apartment therapy

Well I have been living in this place almost 2 years now, and I love this place, its perfect as a house and studio. It is really old house made like 1950, and it used to be stables. So, here horses used to live here.
Finally it is now on Apartment Therapy, in which they found our house on Flickr and asked us to take some interview about it.

First of all, I love what they do! They have introduced soooo many cute houses, dream furniture, just incredibly amazing! Here's the page that we are on.

random doodle from sketchbook (Baby portrait)

So I took drawing concept with Jason Holley two terms ago. Here's the final that I did. Title: Floating. I found the mattress between two apartments in silverlake. I don't know what it told me, but i felt like that space is stopping the time, frozen, floating in air.
6ftx4ft mixed media on paper.

military

Sketching For
Illustration with Bob Kato. Last semester, I took this class, which drove me craaaaazy!
but i like how much I improved in this class. Sometimes military type of class make me stronger.

my favorites

I always like abstract artwork than figurative, and like installation artwork than oil painting, and like sculpture than wood panel painting, though I appreciate oil paintings so much. Today's color theory, we had to bring 3 things that I think are "beautiful", and I brought these stuff.
I am trying to find the way to combine these elements and my artwork.

The reason I like these installation and abstraction is I can feel more freedom than others.

my shoulder bag

My shoulder bag from 4 years old. Paper sculpture with gouache painting. I will draw and make paper sculpture of me 4 years old, so it will match the bag and the figure.

experimenting

Experiment is sometimes everything.
We went to union station to draw architecture ( we were supposed to draw "people", but you know, i suck at drawing people.), and played with xerox copy machine. i felt so FREE on this assignment, so i cut and paste, also photocopied my hands too, and made these.

Bronze

This is the bronze and laminated wood sculpture that I did in material class with Catherine Maclean. We went to Andevan Bronzeworks in Glendale, and saw how bronze turns out. It was amazing! I wish I could have taken some pictures of those in process. I think I want to do more sculpture to combine drawing. This one is psychological landscape in concept.

Plants!

Some more plant series!

Etching print

Here's some color version of etching print. I love intaglio because of the way it comes out with numerous different values, delicate lines drawn with the needle. 12x18 on paper.

Hi!

Hi! This is my first post! This is one of the series of "Plants I have never seen." It would be amazing if I could have them at home. I have been hoping to live with those weird plants, but am kind of realizing that wouldn't happen. So, I painted. 22x30, gouache on paper.
